Independence Circulation Symbiosis

Rainwater is a resource of the climate and the natural features of a region, it is special to that region and is something that everyone has equal access to. Also, rainwater supports all life as it circulates around Earth. By studying the wisdom of rainwater utilization from around the world, we aim to find a way for urban areas to become independent regarding water resources, to revive the natural water circulation in cities and to achieve an urban renaissance.

Rethinking the significance of rainwater in terms of a resource, the environment and culture may enable us to overcome environmental and water problems, to become truly independent and to construct a society where human beings are part of natural cycles.

The Objectives of PR
  1. From flow to stock of rainwater, this not only can help alleviate water shortages but also mitigates urban flooding. We will not completely depend on faraway dams, and will aim for independent water sources by diligently saving water and collecting rainwater.
  2. We will systematically improve small-scale water sources, such as rainwater and ground water, scattered in each area as life points, not depending on only lifelines to supply water and will aim to develop disaster-resistant cities.
  3. We view water, soil and greenery in cities as one, and will advance the development of lush green and ‘water holding cities’ by of rainwater infiltration for regenerating local water circulation.
  4. We will develop social systems and technical standards so that a rainwater harvesting and utilization system will be applied whenever cities are developed or buildings are designed.
  5. We will pass down lives and cultures that value the rain that all people have been raised with since ancient times, to future generations. We will organize programs to learn about rain through experience in order to nurture the sensitivity of people so that they can think about regional and global environments in the future and can act globally from where they live.
  6. The sky is connected all over the world. Clean sky water falls from clean skies. We will work to prevent air pollution on a global scale so that everyone will have access to safe drinking water and clean water will be passed on to people in the future.
  7. We will create an international rain center where we can carry out activities and an exchange for the Asia-Pacific Sky Water Network to solve the water crisis in Asia, and immerse ourselves in the issues associated with rain and culture. Make use of rain and bring peace to the world. No more war tanks, we need water storage tanks for peace. We will share rain, use rain and keep peace. “No more tanks for war, tanks for peace !”
